Natural maitake mushroom extract grifola frondosa (Maitake Mushroom) is commonly known as Sitting Hen. It is classified under Eumycophyta Basidiomycotina Polyporaceae Polyporus. Maitake mushrooms are flavourful and esteemed as the “king of mushrooms”.

They used to be an invaluable treasure in olden times but were difficult to cultivate, thus its location was entirely based on chance and was passed down hereditarily. Grifola frondosa has always been considered the “national treasure of the palace” and “the king of immunity” in Japan.

Grifola frondosa (Maitake) polysaccharide is extracted from the fruiting body of Grifola frondosa.

The main component of Grifolan frondosa is proteoglycan, and glucan accounts for the majority of the polysaccharide composition. β-(1→6) and β-(1→3) glucans make up its structure, and also contain small amounts of xylose and cloves.
